Description

Ethiopia Odaco (ETH) – Natural Process, Mixed Heirloom: Pure Coffee from the Origin

Ethiopia Odaco - Natural Process – Mixed Heirloom is a refined and characterful specialty coffee from the Guji area in southern Ethiopia. This coffee comes from the region where Arabica originates, and you can taste it in every sip: floral aromas, vibrant fruity notes, and an elegant acidity make this coffee a unique experience.

Origin: Guji, Ethiopia

The Odaco washing station is located in the highlands of Guji, at an altitude of 2,000 – 2,200 meters above sea level. Smallholder farmers deliver their hand-picked coffee cherries here, grown on fertile volcanic soils in a biodiverse ecosystem. The result is a coffee with pronounced terroir and lively complexity.

Mixed Heirloom: Biodiversity in a Cup

The term Mixed Heirloom refers to a wide variety of indigenous Arabica types found only in Ethiopia. These genetically diverse coffee plants create complex flavor profiles with floral and fruity characteristics, unique to each harvest.

Natural Process

In the natural (dry) processing, the coffee cherries are dried whole in the sun, allowing the sugars and aromas of the pulp to infuse deeply into the bean. This results in an intensely fruity and sweet coffee with a full body and a distinctive character.

Flavor Profile

  • Aroma: jasmine, strawberry, tropical fruit
  • Taste: blueberries, mango, peach, floral notes
  • Body: medium to full
  • Acidity: lively and fresh
  • Finish: sparkling, slightly wine-like and fruity

This coffee is perfectly suited for filter methods such as V60, Chemex, and Kalita, but also performs surprisingly well as a single origin espresso.
